Btw; this is how my door looks now.
It can’t open from the inside and I tried to fix it, but I can’t stick my hand in far enough to wiggle the mechanism. That’s what she said.
Anyway, now I’m stuck with this because I don’t want to glue the panel back yet, that would mean it defeated me.

Change your name to Oppo instead of Otto because you have now reached peak Oppo and everyone must bow down to you our glorious savior

Looks good, love the colour.
Have you figured out what the door issue is yet? Something stuck or broken?

The steel wire/rod you pull to release the catch CAN be pulled, but to do so is way more difficult than it’s supposed to be, which is why you can’t do it using the plastic handle, when the door is all patched up correctly.
So my guess is that the steel rod is either catching somewhere inside the door, close to the catch itself. Sadly I have no picture of the full door.
Because of the metal moulding, you can’t see inside well enough to fix it. I’ll try searching on forums and stuff.
- that’s another issue I’ve noticed with owning a twingo. It’s hard to find online resources and videos and tips when it’s all either in German or French (since the first-gen Twingo wasn’t exported to the UK, there hasn’t been a chance of an english-speaking community to emerge...).

By definition you can't be cool because you're on Oppo.

A buddy of mine in college had t he greatest shitty 1972 Mustang ever. Both door handles were broken. You could only get in the drivers side door, but you could only get out the passenger side door. It was basically a clown car. And of course he had no money to fix it. It was a hilarious summer of climbing over seats to get in and out of that old beast.

Hahaha I bet bench seats would help in that situation.

I do but I have no idea what to pull or why. I still haven’t figured out exactly what’s wrong. I’ll use my phone camera to help and get more into it soon. Like, to
morrow.

OK, was looking into this for you - that top rod in your picture...to open the door, it’s supposed to be pulled forward by the handle:
Does it not budge
at all?

Sorry for the late reply! I’ll shoot a video for you this weekend.
The rod moves in the direction you’ve shown, and if you pull it really hard the door opens.
I think the problem is that it’s so difficult to move that the plastic handle you’re supposed to use is near breaking point. And you have to move it further than you think. So maybe there’s actually some play before it opens. I’ll check it out over the weekend.

Sure, thanks! M
aybe it’s just not been lubed in awhile? Did you try putting some Lithium or other grease in there and working it back and forth a bit? Or into the rest of the door mechanism?

Thanks for the reply. I will be ordering some for the truck and shop fridge. Cool.
